Former speaker Peggy Weil has been working on this great idea of organizing a contest called "Heads Up" what challenges people to help heighten the sense of emergency with regard to sustaining our planet with the use of data visualisations in public space. She presented her thoughts last year at PICNIC, and has now just launched the call for submissions (Go Peggy!). The winner of the challenge will get thousands of eyeballs on one of the huge screens on Times Square NY! So make sure to send in your app!  Read less

Ah, had some rest for the last 2 weeks and have been enjoying the great feedback on PICNIC Festival 2011. It has been a tough ride, but boy, it payed off. Now working on the new strategy of PICNIC for the coming years. So exciting!!! So stay tuned for I'd love to hear your feedback on our plans. Hope to get them out in November this year!

Thought Day 2 was much better, perhaps because the weather was better and it was possible to converse with many people. I enjoyed talking to people in the app market place backed by Syntens. I found a wide degree in start-ups. Some knew exactly what problem they had solved and were eager to explain. Others hadn't a clue that their idea was much further in development abroad...can't understand why people don't Google their idea.  Read less
