Chris Burke aka Damian Lacedaemion

Creator, “This Spartan Life”

Coming out of NYU Film School in the 80's, Chris Burke worked on set and on location with some of the most creative talents in contemporary film and theater, including directors Robert Altman, Lucio Fulci, and Peter Sellars. In late 2004, he conceived This Spartan Life. A "talk show in game space” which uses Xbox Live as a programming platform and the videogame Halo as its backdrop, This Spartan Life is a unique concept, likened to "a mash-up of The Charlie Rose Show and Doom" by Wired Magazine. It has been lauded for its brilliant combination of traditional filmmaking with the creative, interactive possibilities of videogame technology by numerous mainstream media outlets, including The BBC, Reuters, Boingboing.net, PRI's Studio 360 and BusinessWeek, and won Best Machinima Series at the 2005 and 2008 Machinima Festivals. This Spartan Life has also created exclusive online content for Spike TV’s Videogame Awards, featuring an in-game interview with rockers and hardcore gamers KoRn amongst others.
