Gerd Leonhard is a media futurist, blogger, digerati, writer, speaker and advisor. He has spent over twenty-five years in the technology and entertainment industries, both in the U.S. as well as in Europe, and recently in Asia. Gerd writes about the impact that new technologies have on content and the media industry.

The Wall Street Journal calls Gerd ʻone of the leading Media Futurists in the Worldʼ. He is the Co-Author of the influential book ʻThe Future of Musicʼ (2005, Berklee Press), as well as the Author of ʻMusic2.0ʼ (January 2008, free download at *), and ʻThe End of Controlʼ (to be published in late 2009).

Gerd's background is in Music (he won the Quincy Jones Award in 1986 and is a graduate of Boston's Berklee College of Music) as well as in Technology, Internet and Media. Gerd is considered a leading expert on a wide range of topics such as social media, web/media 2.0, mobility, innovation, UGC and peer production, social networking, education, copyright and IPR issues, digital content commerce models, convergence, entrepreneurship, innovation in advertising and branding, future planning, digital content strategies and the development of
