Gerben Mak is Director Innovation at Logica in The Netherlands. In this role, Gerben sets the innovation agenda primarily for Logica in The Netherlands, but he also plays a role in group business innovation. Logica innovation management covers three activities:
1. Developing thought leadership;
2. Managing innovation projects; and
3. Developing innovation management consulting business.
Innovation is interpreted by Gerben as the sum of technology, creativity and organisation. As technology is already fully covered by Logica, Gerben focuses more on creativity: the quest for real value added services, using either existing or new technology. By ways of Logica Management Consulting, attention is paid to the organization and business transformation as well: innovation-DNA is conditional to successful innovation management.
Gerben studied Business Economics at the University of Maastricht (NL) and graduated in Organisational Sciences and Marketing. Via BMW Group The Netherlands and IBM Benelux, Gerben joined KPN Mobile in 1997 to advise corporate clients in the area of mobile services. In 1999, Gerben co-founded an innovative mobile marketing agency “Unwired Concepts”, which was acquired by CMG in 2001. Since then, Gerben has developed a business innovation practice, working for innovation-eager companies like Rabobank and Philips. By the end of 2006, Gerben was appointed in his current role: Director Innovation.
Gerben is especially passionate about cross media related developments, such as mobile internet and web3.0 in paving the way for the mobile phone to become the “remote control for life”. His Innovation Pioneering team studies technical, economic and social developments for their strategic impact on endusers and corporations alike, and translates those developments into practical innovation projects.
Gerben is also Member of the Board of PICNIC.
