PICNIC'07 is now over.
From the 25th-29th September, the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam was host to PICNIC'07.

PICNIC’07 wasn't just a conference. It was a festival – a week of fresh, creative, innovative ideas. At this leading international event, creative minds from the worlds of media, entertainment, science and the arts convened from 25th-29th September.

Here’s your guide to the week packed with creative and innovative ideas.

Conference

The biggest event, the PICNIC’07 CONFERENCE, began on Wednesday afternoon. There were three days of state-of-the-art presentations, debates and workshops, with keynotes by industry leaders like Philips Research Director Emile Aarts, The Simpsons director David Silverman, and Dr. David Weinberger, author of Everything is Miscellaneous.

Specials

Alongside the conference, we offered five FREE SPECIALS – Day of the Medialabs, Cinegrid, Virtual Worlds, Creative China and a Pitch Session – plus a smorgasbord of more than 50 FREE PARTNER EVENTS

Junior

On Monday and Tuesday, PICNIC kicked off with PICNIC Junior, which combined a seminar for Dutch educators with a series of media and technology workshops for young adults. And for students, PICNIC ACADEMY presented a special programme of lectures given by PICNIC'07 conference speakers.

Play

COME OUT AND PLAY made its Amsterdam debut on the 28th and 29th September. Hundreds of delegates and the general public were invited to play urban games at the Westergasfabriek and at several locations throughout the city, turning it into a giant playground.

Green

On Saturday Sir Richard Branson presented Igor Kluin - winner of the PICNIC GREEN CHALLENGE - with the award of €500,000 for the most eco-friendly idea.

Party

After the conference PICNIC AT NIGHT kicked in with 3 diverse nights full of music, VJs, DJ's and much more. On Wednesday, the Red Bull Soundclash unleashed a musical battle. On Thursday, XS4ALL hosted ¡Viva la Creación!. On Friday, Heineken poured out Refreshing Sounds. And on Saturday, Submarine invited delegates and the public to take a Short Ride in a Fast Machine.
