Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2009

150,000 euro prize for the best mobile internet start-up

Vodafone Mobile Clicks is an international, high profile contest for the best mobile internet start-up. This competition was founded to accelerate innovation in the mobile internet sector. The winner is selected by a professional jury in three different jury rounds.

This year's Vodafone Mobile Clicks sessions take place at PICNIC '09 on Friday 25 September. Check out the sessions at the right for more information on times and location.

After last years success in the Netherlands, this year's event has been extended to the UK as well. Additionally, the prize has increased from 100.000 euros up to 150.000 euros! Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2009 will once again be a memorable experience for all involved.

The finalists have now been selected from both the Netherlands and the UK. The grand finale will take place on Friday 25 September at PICNIC '09 at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam.

The Mobile Clicks 2009 finalists from the Netherlands:

  • My Name is E: A service that facilitates connecting people on and offline by collecting their profiles from various social networks - like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter - all in one place. These profiles can then be shared in real life via mobile telephone or a special device, The Connector.
  • MobyPicture: A service that makes it possible to share photos, videos and audio with friends on social networks like Hyves, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter with the push of a button.
  • Layar: A browser that uses augmented reality to allow users get information about about companies and services in the area by looking through the camera of their mobile phone.

Vodafone Mobile Clicks is the result of close cooperation between Mobile Monday Amsterdam, Mobile Monday London, Vodafone NL, Vodafone UK, PICNIC and Trend8.

The Mobile Clicks 2009 finalists from the UK:

  • Audioboo (Best Before Media): This service provides the option to record audio and directly share it with social network sites such as Twitter and Facebook. These files, so-called boos, can be watched and played within the community.
  • Rummble: Search & discovery tool which recommends content to its users based on the preferences of people with similar interests. The service develops a trusted network that results in personalised content.
  • Woobius: An online collaboration tool which simplifies file sharing and collaboration between architects and engineers by keeping all files in one place. Woobius Eye for mobiles helps avoid or solve misunderstandings, thus preventing high building costs due to errors.

Who can participate?
Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2009 is open to any individual residing in the Netherlands or the UK from the age of 18 years and to Dutch and UK-based start-up companies, businesses, institutions and all other organisations.
Participants must be or must have the intention to become a start-up enterprise/business in the field of mobile internet products or services. Start-up means that the enterprise/business cannot be older than three years since its inception. Each participant may submit only one entry. (Previous Dutch) Entries from Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2008 are allowed to participate again in Vodafone Mobile Clicks 2009.
