Mediamatic Social RFID Hackers Camp

Use your iktag to enjoy a bunch of brand new interactive installations. They were developed at the Social RFID workshop organized by Mediamatic in the 5 days preceding PICNIC 08.

The Social RFID Hackers Camp explored recent technologies, interaction design and social processes. The aim was to realize a bunch of engaging interactive installations, wearables and spaces, for the visitors of PICNIC 08 to play with. The projects to be realized in this Camp are amazing, subversive, beautiful and unheard of.

For the workshop Mediamatic has collected a group of excellent coders, designers and physical computeers that know how to enjoy a creative and technical challenge.

Programme

The Hackers Camp were a feverish five days from 19 till 23 of September 2008. 5 days long, 24 hrs a day.
So whatever the hackers' most creative and productive hours of the day were, they used them. At PICNIC takes place this year from 24 till to 26 September.

The main thing was this special pleasure to work together with really good and creative people on beautiful and innovative projects. Also Mediamatic takes a DIY attitude to our technological environment. We think it important to understand the technologies that surround us also practically, and to explore and develop their cultural and social potential.

Erik Borra, Marc Boon, Arjan Scherpenisse, Robin Gareus, Mark Wubben, Mark Hoekstra, Dirk van Oosterbosch, Fabienne Serriere, Eelco Wagenaar, Heerko van der Kooij, Mathias Forbach, Matt Cottam, Luis Fernandez, Thijs Gadiot, Jasper Speicher, Ekene Ijeoma, Vlad Trifa, Neil Mendoza, Andras Szalai, Rui Guerra + 2 third year interaction design students from the Royal Academy of Art The Hague, Simon Claessen, Bart Hemmeryckx-Deleersnijder, Sara Kolster, Ralph Meijer, Maurits Fennis, Adriaan Wormgoor, Axel Roest and Rik Fleuren.
