Special:Flexbar I

Internet of Things

Toys for hackers or a real business opportunity?

This event is the counterpart of the Mediamatic Hacker’s camp. Where the hacker camp focuses on the brainstorming and fast prototyping of new gadgets and ideas, this special event will focus on what happens when a good idea gets transformed into a real commercial product.

The purpose of this session is to raise awareness that a new ecology of tiny interconnected objects is quickly and silently pervading even the most intimate corners of our lives, yet many companies are still reluctant to focus their R&D strategy in this area, because these "smart devices" are perceived as unreliable, and not mature enough to be transformed into commercial products. To promote research in the field of Internet of Things, we have invited six speakers that will present how they have converted some ideas and toys for hackers into readily available products used both in research and industrial applications.

Additionally, a special demo & breakfast session will be there to bridge people together. You'll be able to play with different products and prototypes brought by our partners and speakers. Come and experience on your own the Internet of Things, and get inspired!

We want to invite you to take part for this session and share your thoughts and ideas on how and why companies should not fear, but embrace and focus their research on the development of smart devices that will soon materialize the visions of a world where machines will talk to each other to make our life experience more enjoyable.

Finally, tikitag will organize a short surprise session where they will present their freshly released product, which is an online consumer HF RFID/Near Field Communication beta service with a community website to use, share, and create new and off-the-shelf applications that connects objects in the real world with online applications, by enabling them to interact with just one touch.
