The consumer plays a progressively prominent role in the development of a brand or product. After User Generated Content, firms are now seeking to engage the consumer through 'crowdsourcing' and other forms of online collaboration. At the same time, the creative industry is increasingly making use of 'outsourcing'. Initially this mainly concerned production work, but more and more it concerns the creative process as well, with firms seemingly wishing to concentrate their efforts on strategy and marketing. As a ‘special’ at PICNIC '08, Creating Brands will present an evening with international speakers offering their view on these developments.
