Meet the Mayor and join PICNIC

In what has become an annual tradition, Mayor Job Cohen hosted a special gathering at his Residence earlier this month. Invited: the creme de la creme of the PICNIC Network, the people and the companies that make PICNIC possible.

Mayor Job Cohen was a splendid host - he always is - and warmly invited those present to get involved again. PICNIC Co-founders Bas Verhart and Marleen Stikker presented some ideas on PICNIC's future, and Programme Director Monique van Dusseldorp hinted at some of PICNIC themes.

Key partners already expressed their interest in getting involved again. Dirk Kronemeijer, Vice President Business Innovation at airline KLM gave a great presentation on why KLM supports PICNIC - the airline used PICNIC last year to bring together their top clients and business partners for a series of meetings on innovation, and also involved the PICNIC audience in a brainstorm on the 'Flight of the Future'.

Marieke van Schaik of the Dutch National Postcode Lottery announced the continuation of the PICNIC Green Challenge. In May the Challenge will start its hunt for the best green product or service, culminating in the PICNIC Green Challenge Award Ceremony on 25 September.

Confirmed partners for PICNIC'08: Technicolor, Sanoma, ilsemedia, Postcode Lottery, UPC, KLM and also new partner Cisco who will join PICNIC this year bringing its 'Connected Urban Development' network to town.
