The Digital Elite in Munich

A line of people stretching around a posh Munich block. ‘Strangers in the Night’ played on a gypsy cymbal in the lobby. Celebrities, media people and technologists greeting each other warmly before swiftly moving on in the hope of actually getting a seat in the conference room…

DLD, short for Digital Life Design, is the invitation-only conference in Munich that was held for the fifth time this January. More than 1,000 friends of publisher Dr Hubert Burda and investor Yossi Vardi attended: the complete German digital elite, a huge delegation of Israeli entrepreneurs, a stellar lineup of top speakers and thinkers, and the lucky few from various countries and industries who managed to convince the organisers they, too, deserved invites.

Curious what happened at DLD? The DLD conference blog provides a session-by-session report, the DLD video portal has all the presentations, and of course the event was blogged about by all and sundry, including the ever-insightful Jeff Jarvis at Buzzmachine.
