We’re thrilled that in only two years, PICNIC has established itself as one of the world’s leading events. One of Europe’s? Well -- definitely the best in Amsterdam!
Let’s just say the Dutch love the initiative. And it shows.
Strange but true: Mayor Job Cohen was named Advertising Man of the Year by the trade paper Marketing Tribune, with PICNIC specifically mentioned as a reason. We think he's a great mayor, too; how can you not like a politician willing to ride a uni-cycle promoting the PICNIC Green Challenge?
Bas Verhart, won the ABN AMRO New Media Award, and together with PICNIC co-founder Marleen Stikker PICNIC was awarded the Coq d’Honneur, a prize given out by the Dutch Centre for Brands and Communication.
And it’s not as if we have anything to do with it, but we’d like to mention it anyway: even the Westergasfabriek, PICNIC's home base, is receiving kudos all over. It’s officially been added to the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH) and recently won the British Landscape Award. Walk around the park the next time you join us and you’ll see why.
