What are our PICNIC heroes up to? Paul Pope, Alex Steffen, Cory Doctorow, Linda Stone
• Artist Paul Pope has such a following that people actually analyse his fashion sense. Pope himself talks about his work and tells stories on his blog and publishes a lot of his work on Flickr. After PICNIC, he did a huge project for the fashion brand Diesel: silkscreens for their stores during Fashion Week.
• Alex Steffen’s dedication to a better world is getting him kudos everywhere. Worldchanging was nominated for a 2007 Best Magazine Webby Award and included in PC Magazine's Favourite 100 Blogs -- and more importantly, Alex was featured in CNN’s Just Imagine series, in an episode called ‘Just Working Together’. Says Alex, “I think the most powerful work happening in the world right now is all happening online.”
• Linda Stone who keynoted Picnic in 2006, and has been a great PICNIC friend since, has started a new column on the Huffington Post. Linda coined the term ‘continuous partial attention’ and will write more about attention from the macro and micro viewpoints. In her latest contribution, she describes e-mail apnea. Gasp!
• Cory Doctorow spoke at PICNIC about creative money and heroes of the information economy. These days he has other things on his mind: his baby girl was born last week. It will take her a while to learn her own name, this one: welcome, Poesy Emmeline Fibonacci Nautilus Taylor Doctorow!
