Marko Ahtisaari's success with Blyk and Dopplr

Speaker Marko Ahtisaari was kind enough at PICNIC’07 to commend the Dutch style of doing business as simply honest, instead of simply rude. We like him for that already, and want to share news about two of his ventures.

Free mobile operator Blyk just signed up two new investors, Goldman Sachs and IFIC –- and they’re launching in the Netherlands later this year. More on that deal in the Financial Times. Congrats to Marko!

Marko has also given the world, and especially the world of conference organisers, an extremely useful gift called Dopplr. It's a tool to track the whereabouts of potential speakers.

Of course it works equally well for tracking delegates or friends -- I can see them hopping around the world like there’s no tomorrow. PICNIC Network members: let’s all sign up and see where everyone’s hanging out? Time has a good piece on Dopplr. Just in case you were wondering: Marko himself is in Hua Hin right now.
