How PICNIC Green Challenge Came About

Marieke van Schaik, Co-Founder of PICNIC Green Challenge, explained how PICNIC Green Challenge came about. Last year, the Dutch Postcode Lottery invited Bill Clinton to speak about climate change in Holland. Bill Clinton said that solutions come from new innovative ideas such as new energy sources. The Dutch Postcode Lottery subsequently met with the organizers of PICNIC to develop the concept of the PICNIC Green Challenge. The jury received 439 entries by August 31, 2007. (Unfortunately, 80 additional entries came after submission process closed.)
