We’re heading to France for upcoming Futur en Seine festival! Following the success of the 2009 edition, the Futur en Seine Festival again takes hold of the city and region of Paris from 17th to 26th June. This is THE popular Festival of Life and Creativity, where the general public meets the innovative creative industries to imagine, build and celebrate the digital future together!

Join PICNIC next week at Futur en Seine...

The incredibly rich and diverse festival program allows everyone -- whether curious, passionate, amateur or professional -- to share one, common experience: to test new technology in situ and to create the digital future together around five central themes: The Future of Life, the Future of Music and Image, the Future of Creation, the Future of Communications and the Future of the City.

At the very heart of the festival, a cycle of international conferences and workshops will be held over a period of six days in prestigious locations (Collège de France, 104, Gaîté Lyrique, Forum des Images et Ecole Normale Supérieure). Internationally renowned speakers have confirmed their participation, including Everyware author Adam Greenfield, FabLab inventor Neil Gershenfeld, McLuhan associate Derrick de Kerckhove, futurist and molecular biologist Joël de Rosnay, educationalist Sugata Mitra, artists Maurice Benayoun and Yoichiro Kawaguchi, legendary pioneer of satellite communications, Candace Johnson, designer, architect and author Michael Shamiyeh, transportion innovator Robin Chase, SXSW Producer Shaw O'Keefe, PICNIC co-founder Marleen Stikker, "Internet of Things" author Rob van Kranenburg and many more...

The conference cycle will also include the second edition of the European Street Design Challenge, which will culminate in the selection of the award winner during the Future of the City. PICNIC is coming with three teams (from Eindhoven, Amsterdam & Rotterdam) to compete in the second edition of the European Street Design Challenge. This competition, first held at PICNIC ‘10, brings together students, start-ups and SMEs for a three-day urban design challenge. At Futur en Seine the teams will battle to develop solutions that increase a sense of “connectedness” between historic Paris and its expanding suburbs.

For four days, the CentQuatre urban arts and creativity centre will host the "Innovation Village". Here visitors can test future-oriented prototypes which have been specially developed with the support of the Cap Digital cluster and the Paris Region. Moreover, delegations from such major international cities as Tokyo, Brazil, Amsterdam, London, Vienna, Berlin, and Copenhagen will present their visionary and innovative digital services and technologies. International design competitions, digital installation and multi-media performances will complement this universal exhibition of the digital revolution. Don't forget to visit PICNIC and IIP Create at the Innovation Village as well!
