The event UrbanTec - Smart Technologies for Better Cities is going to take place for the first time in Cologne from 24 to 26 October 2011. This international trade fair and conference is dedicated to cross-sectorial technologies and solutions that sustainably improve life in existing and emerging agglomerations and cities all over the world.

Investigate smart technologies for better cities at UrbanTec...

Apart from a technology exhibition, a top-class conference with international experts will be held in the context of UrbanTec, where economic and socio-political challenges created by worldwide urbanization as well as the framework conditions required to implement the technological solutions in the cities of tomorrow will be discussed. Among the speakers will be the Lord Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo da Costa Paes, renowned international political advisor, Jeremy Rifkin, and representatives from the city of Rotterdam who will speak about the sustainable development of the Clean Tech Delta.

At the exhibition more than 50 companies will showcase their technological solutions for the cities of the future, among them Siemens, Lanxess, Bayer Material Science, E.ON, RWE, Daimler Strabag Real Estate, two joint stands from Russia, and one from Brazil. The international nature of this event – which is the only exhibition and conference on the topic of urbanization worldwide – is underlined by the fact that the Lord Mayor of Rio de Janeiro as well as delegations from Argentina, Uruguay, Beijing, Tianjin and Lagos have announced their participation in the conference and the trade fair.
