Green Challenge gets record number of submissions

This year, the Postcode Lottery Green Challenge has received a record number of submissions. A total of 717 people from around the world sent their green business plan for consideration for this year's award.
From the amazing number of submissions, between 5 and 7 semifinalists will be selected to move on to the next round and compete for the grand prize of 500,000 EUR. In addition, another 200,000 EUR will be made available to the most deserving runner-up (or split between 2 runners-up).
Green plans from 81 countries
The Green Challenge has truly become a global phenomenon - this year the Postcode Lottery received submissions from 81 countries! As it to be expected, the greatested number of submissions came from the Netherlands (231), but were closely followed by the US (101), UK (91), and India (92). This year, the most popular categories were Engergy, Lifestyle, Mobility, Design and ICT, in that order.
Selection process and award ceremony
The semifinalists will be revealed by the preliminary jury on 1 September. During the first 2 days of PICNIC Festival 2011, these semifinalists will present their business plans to an international jury and the PICNIC audience. On 15 September, the winners will be announced.
The Green Challenge is certainly a can't miss event during PICNIC! Thanks to the generous support of the Postcode Lottery, including their publicity and network, past winners have gone on to realize their ambitions and achieve further success.
