Get new insights into your brain! Learn more about marvelous neurons with lectures and entertaining insect-related experiments from Backyard Brains.
Curious how your brain works? Have you ever wondered what the “spikes” of neurons really look and sound like? Do you like doing experiments? Well you are in luck! Backyard Brains is conducting a workshop just for you.
The goal of this workshop is to make you a neuroscience expert. Though a combination of lectures and demonstrations, attendees will do experiments to determine the effect of temperature on cockroach neurons and measure the speed of neurons in earthworms. You can also meet RoboRoach, the world's first commercially available remote-control cyborg.
Backyard Brains is bringing a fully functional portable electrophysiology lab, so stop by and try out your new experiment ideas. From artists to engineers, scientists educators, everyone is welcome!
Backyard Brains is a start-up based in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Santiago, Chile. They design, manufacture and distribute low-cost neurotechnology so students of all ages can learn about neurons. Founded in early 2009, Backyard Brains' equipment and experiments are now available in over 250 universities, 70 high schools and many amateur laboratories worldwide.
