European Bloggers Conference: Friday

Two day workshop for bloggers and journalists

The conference will allow bloggers from the European Union and its neighbour countries to meet, share ideas and discuss new media developments in their respective countries. The event will focus on issues common to bloggers and citizen journalists from East and West, as well as on vital differences.

On Thursday morning Evgeny Morozov of Transitions Online will talk about how the ‘East-West divide’ is reflected in the blogosphere.
Later on, Community animator and Project Manager Vanessa Witkowski will present CaféBabel Blogs and the Cafébabel community www.cafebabel.com/en/ Managing Editor Michael Nederlof will then talk about the experience of the community driven news site Skoeps.nl.

The rest of the conference will continue in parallel tracks:

• “Citizen Journalism: How and When It works”
• “Blogging in Dangerous Places: Security Issues”
• “How does blogging affects society and politics, and viceversa”
• “Building Successful Web2.0 applications”

On Friday morning, Gabriel González will present the Deutsche Welle International Weblog Awards, deadline to enter the contest is September 30!

    it's 'kind of' ridiculous this is not an open event. For starters, I would have been able to invite a lot interesting people who have been active in Citizen Journalism since way before that name came about. *Sigh*.
